Romsey Terrace planning appeal Tuesday next week, resident’s chair asks for help ..

by Paul Saunders on 18 August, 2016

Here’s a note from Roy Stamp, Chair of Romsey Terrace Residents’ Group …

Dear Fellow Residents of Romsey

Thank you for your support in fighting the plans by Robinson College to build on the back gardens off the houses they own in Romsey Terrace.

The College had wanted the Inspector to decide the case by written submissions only, but over 50 objections were received, including several from other RAs, and it is this opposition that has persuaded the Inspector to come to Cambridge to see the site for himself and hold an oral hearing instead.

This will be on Tuesday 23rd August at 10am in Committee Room 1 at the Guildhall

The fear that this scheme would set a precedent for this kind of ‘garden-grabbing’ is well founded. A further application has just gone in for four flats on St Philips Road between Hemingford and Belgrave Road, and there is no doubt that this developer – and others – will be looking closely at the outcome of the Romsey Terrace Appeal.

It is the holiday season, so many residents who do feel strongly about this will be away and unable to attend – if you are in Cambridge and can spare an hour on Tuesday morning, please come along to support us.

We know resident numbers will be important in giving the message that this is not the kind of development we want for Romsey Terrace – or the rest of Romsey.

Many thanks

Roy Stamp,
Chair Romsey Terrace Residents’ Group
