| Kilian was elected Liberal Democrat County Councillor for Romsey in 2008, and re-elected in 2009. On the County Council, he is Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group.
He was born in 1981 in Dublin and grew up in County Down, Northern Ireland. He did a degree in English at Robinson College, finishing in 2005, and a Masters in Screen Media and Cultures in 2008.
He worked in 2003 as an analyst for France Telecom on the logistics branch of the Top Sourcing program. In 2004 he worked for the International Herald Tribune in Paris, as a web-producer of the online edition of the newspaper.
For a couple of years after graduating he was an electric-bike traffic reporter for Star Radio, known as “Coleman the Patrolman.” He also ran the ground operation of Greenwheels Pedicab Tours for a few years, a local rickshaw company that offers guided tours and short trips around the city centre.
