Romsey Campaigner Nichola Martin is picking up Kilian’s campaign for a new school in Romsey and taking it in an exciting new direction. Nichola has written to City and County officials asking them to include the Mill Road depot site as an option for a new primary school.
Local Lib Dems have proposed investing £12m to build over 100 new affordable homes on the site, and Nichola is keen to see if a school could form part of any new development.
Nichola said: “Romsey urgently needs a new primary school, and it’s good the County Council has finally listened to us and commissioned a report looking at various options. “However, in terms of best meeting Romsey families’ needs, I think we should look at whether the Mill Road depot site could be used for both new housing and a new school.”
Nichola added: “Because the City Council own the site, this could be done much more quickly than elsewhere. I believe this could be the best solution for Romsey.”
