City Council to support their proposal to develop a school on the Mill Road depot site.

Romsey campaigner Nichola Martin is calling on the Labour-run City Council to back her campaign to include a new primary school in any development of the Mill Road depot site.

The site is owned by the City Council, and could be used for new affordable homes as well as a new school. Nichola has stated that a new school here would benefit everyone in Romsey, not just parents.

She told us: “A new school would obviously help tackle the school places crisis, but would also dramatically reduce congestion across our area. It would put an end to hour-long school runs, as Romsey parents could just walk their kids over the railway bridge instead.”

Having already written to City and County Council officials, Nichola is now urging the Cambridge Labour group to support her plans for the site.

‘Labour claim to care’

One local parent said: “We desperately need a new school to serve the Romsey community. I’m glad Nichola is taking Kilian’s campaign forward.
“I think it’s appalling that Labour claim to care about the school places issue while doing nothing to help develop the Mill Road depot site, which they own.”
