The City Council have just published their initial review of the provision of community centres in Cambridge. In the review, the Council are recommending that the community centre on Ross St is maintained, but they will be looking for an external voluntary organisation to manage the day-to-day running of the centre.

As such, the review proposes putting the running of the centre out to tender; if a contract were to be awarded to a voluntary organisation, there would be a service level agreement in place to ensure the centre can continue to be used as it is now.

The Council are running a consultation on the proposals here. Note that this only affects centres directly owned by the council; other centres used by community groups (Romsey Mill, the various churches & schools in the area, etc) are unaffected.
