Have your say about the refurbishment of the corner of Mill Road and Cavendish Road

by Paul Saunders on 15 November, 2016

A bit of TLC is definitely overdue

The City Council has just opened a consultation on the corner of Mill Road and Cavendish Road. The proposals include new raised beds, new cycle racks, benches from reclaimed wood, and a specially commissioned piece of art created by Romsey-based artist Harry Gray (who recently created the new “Poppy Gates” for Twickenham Rugby Stadium). The design of the artwork for this site will commemorate Romsey’s railway heritage and is already underway. The existing trees will all be kept in-place.

Romsey activist Simon Cooper said “This area has long been in need of some improvement, and it’s great to see the City Council looking to brighten the area up. I hope lots of people support the proposals, they look like they’ll really enhance the area”.

The consultation. which includes a plan of the proposals, can be accessed online here.  The consultation will close on the 12th December.
If the proposals get a positive response, the work will begin in 2017.
