The Arthur Rank Hospice Charity

The "Tea Bar" at the Arthur Rank Hospice

It’s impossible to live in Romsey Town without knowing of the Arthur Rank Hospice on the Brookfields Hospital site. What you may not know is that its services stretch over most Cambridgeshire and beyond.

Today I was lucky to be given a guided tour by Lucy Day (thanks, Lucy!) who works tirelessly to raise funds for the ARHC ( Arthur Rank Hospice Charity). The ARHC is involved in work here at the site, including a thriving Day Centre, and support to patients, carers and families over a wide area.

My thanks also to Dr Lynn Morgan, the charity’s first full-time Chief Executive, who took time out of a busy day to explain me on the challenges facing ARHC today. One example is “Hospice at Home” . This  imaginative initiative provides assistance at critical times so as to allow people to remain in their own homes rather than in-patient facilities.

Fund raising is always an issue and the charity’s successful shop in Mill Road, with it’s committed volunteers, plays a significant part here. A recent initiative is ARHC’s fund-raising lottery: more here.
