The future of Great Eastern Street car park

by Paul Saunders on 18 December, 2014

A message from Donald Adey,

The Labour-run City Council is currently considering whether to introduce charges for use of the Great Eastern Street car park.
They have also proposed to increase the size of the car park by removing the play area that sits next to the site.
To offset against the loss of play area, they plan to extend and refurbish the play area next to the Gwydir Street car park.

The local Lib Dem team are concerned that these plans would encourage commuters to park in nearby residential areas to avoid paying the new fee.
This would reduce quality of life for local people and cause further parking issues.

We would be keen to hear your views on the matter, you can email me at donaldinromsey@gmail.com.

Tell me which of these statements you agree with most:

  • both the car park and play area should remain unaltered
  • the car park should remain free, but extending it would be useful
  • there should be charges for use of the car park between 9am -5pm
  • there should be charges for use of the car park between 11am-3pm.

Please do include any other comments you wish to make.

Kind regards,
Donald
