Grants from the City Council

by Paul Saunders on 29 January, 2016

The City Council has schemes that allocate grants to local projects which can be proposed by groups or by Councillors.

Community Development Grants.

This scheme allocates money for projects which help reduce inequality or in some way assist people who would otherwise struggle.

There is a “Help and support session” for anyone to go and find out more about the criteria and application requirements on Monday 2nd February 2015 6pm – 7.30pm at Meadows Community Centre 1 St Catharine’s Rd, Cambridge CB4 3XJ. Plenty of free parking.  Booking required.

If you want to make an application, please contact The Grants Team ASAP on 01223 457857 grants@cambridge@cambridge.gov.uk to discuss your idea.  Closing date 20th February.

Ideas will be discussed and prioritised by the Councillors at East Area Committee on 7th April.

Environmental Improvement Programme

This scheme give grants for environmental improvements.  In the past that has included highway matters but not this time.  They are treated separately by the County Council which is the Highway Authority.

Ideas should involve small improvements that will improve the the “public realm” in some way.  If you would like to discuss your idea – contact John Richards on John.Richards@cambridge.gov.uk

Ideas should have been submitted by the 29th February and will also be discussed and prioritised by the Councillors at East Area Committee on 7th April.

Councillor Catherine Smart said “Both these schemes are aimed at doing something about the small things that make a difference to people’s lives.  Grand schemes are all very well – and very important –  but often it is the small very local thing which makes the difference.  If anyone has a bright idea – please do give it a whirl – and contact me if you think I might be able to help.”
